MOUNT ZION AME CHURCH ORGANIZATIONS


Stewardesses
The Stewardesses are responsible for providing the elements for Holy Communion. They also assist the ministerial staff with Holy Communion and Baptismal rites. Stewardesses are appointed by the pastor.


Usher Board
The Mt. Zion Usher Board’s mission is to ensure that all members and guest feel welcome upon entering the sanctuary. They also strive to meet the needs of the Pastor and congregation before, during and after worship service. The usher board is comprised of senior as well as youth members.


Sunday School
The mission of the Sunday School is to teach, train, nurture, prepare and recruit adults and children in God’s word for Christian service, emphasizing those Christian principles which are essential for effective Christian growth and participation.


Class Leaders
Class Leaders are appointed by the Pastor and serve as a vital link between the Pastor and the members of his/her respective class. Each member is assigned to a Class Leader and the Class Leader is responsible for maintaining contact with each member and making report to the Official Board of any sickness, concerns or any other issues which may affect the spiritual and/or financial commitment to the Church.


Lay Organization
The purpose of the Lay Organization is to organize and train the laity of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. We are committed to expanding/spreading the word about our history, traditions, principals, discipline, evangelism, financial and general well-being of African Methodism. The Lay organization is also charged with keeping alive the memory of our founder, Bishop Richard Allen. With respect to the constituted authority, or the pastor, the Lay Organization works to stimulate and educate the entire Laity in the total program of the church. The Lay members are required to study the book of Discipline to stay abreast about the law of the church. It encourages financial support of the church’s programs and teaches stewardship practices to the youth and new members. The Lay organization supports the various church programs and organizations and gets involved with social action within the church community.


Women’s Missionary Society
Mission: We are called to strengthen our faith and sent to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ by service and witness in the world. The Susan Harrell Women’s Missionary Society of Mt. Zion AME Church is an organization that works within the confinement of the Church and into the communities where there are needs. We accomplish this mission by distributing hot meals to the homeless, supporting the AME Empowerment Center and various other outreach initiatives and projects as designed by the Area Conference, District and Connectional Leadership.


Young People’s Department (YPD)
The Young People and Children’s Division serve under the leadership of the Susan Harrell Women's Missionary Society and includes ages 2 to 26. The purpose of the organization is to provide meaningful youth training programs and opportunities for leadership experience in all areas of church life. By providing training in Evangelism, Christian Social Relations, and Education programs the YPD is designed to connect youth more fully to the mission of the church and increase knowledge of the African Methodist Episcopal Church history and the scriptures.


Sons of Allen/Men of Zion
The Sons of Allen Ministry named after founder, Richard Allen was established to equip men of the church for meaningful service, to reach unchurched men, and to present positive role models for our youth in the community.
 


MOUNT ZION AME CHURCH BOARDS


STEWARDS
The Steward Board is responsible for the financial and spiritual governance of the church. Stewards are charged with overseeing the fiduciary interests of the church as well as establishing operating policies and procedures. The Steward Board approves new initiatives, programs, and capital expenses as recommended by the pastor. Stewards are appointed annually by the pastor.


TRUSTEES
The Trustee Board works under the direction of the pastor, and is responsible for the temporal concerns of the church. Trustees are charged with safeguarding all of Mother Bethel’s the church real estate and other properties and for making improvements when necessary. Trustees are nominated by the Pastor and elected annually by the congregation.

 

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
The Commission on Christian Education makes careful study of the Christian education needs of the local church and means for meeting these needs such as: the correlation of the program of educational agencies for the various age groups; the recommendation and approval of curricula in harmony with the findings of the curriculum committee and the standards adopted by the Division of Christian Education; the supervision for the recruitment, training and assignment of Christian education workers in the local church. The Commission cooperates in the proper observance of holidays and special weeks prescribed by the AME Church Discipline.

Audio Ministry
The Audio Team provides audio/sound for all worship services, ministry and outside events. 

 

Culinary Committee
The Culinary Committee is responsible for all food service at Mt. Zion. This Ministry has the responsibility to oversee the operation, use, cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.


Prayer Band
The purpose of the Prayer Band is to provide a time for anyone who wishes to unite in prayer to join with us each Thursday night at 8:00pm


Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry under the leadership of Evangelist Bertha Corbett seeks to address the many challenges and struggles that women face at home, school, work, church and in society today. Our primary goals are to educate and empower women by providing encouragement and support through spiritual messages, workshops, fellowship and other interactive forums. Meetings are held the 3rd Sunday of each month at 8:30am.


Music
The mission of the Music & Arts Department of Mt. Zion AME Church is to reach the lost, uplift the burdened, and minister to the hearts of God’s children through music. We will strive to live what we sing and be a positive force in ministry in the church. The Music Ministry is made up of the MT ZION Gospel Choir, The Senior Choir, The Male Chorus, Youth Choir and Praise Team. 


Dance
This ministry focuses on Ministry through Dance. Through movement-based interpretations of sacred music, hymns, prayers, and scripture, they magnify the glory of God to touch lives by His Spirit. Open to all who have a heart to worship God through the ministry of dance. The Praise Dance Team seeks to uplift the worship experience and to help others come to Christ through praise and worship. The Praise Dance Team participates in various church celebrations of worship throughout the year.


Pastor’s Aid
The pastor's aide committee assists the pastor and his family with other various needs, in a moral, spiritual, and financial sense. They keep track of the pastor's birthday, and his family's birthdays and other special anniversaries, and may plan activities or parties for these events.


Willing Workers To Worship God
To help renew/supply the necessary items needed to maintain St. Paul’s workmanship and beautification To bless one another through fellowship and support.
